Deadline Rumors
The February 26 trading deadline as it does in all sports, brings trade rumors. According to the Boston Herald, there have been rumblings that touted guys like Matt Lashoff, Mark Stuart, and even Phil Kessel could be dealt to land a high-end scoring forward. The Bruins have been rumored all season long to be interested in another solid defenseman as well.
McKeon's Take- There is not much to say about this beside the fact they are what they are, rumors. I know fans want to see a quick fix but, a quick fix may not be the answer. The quick fix is what buried this franchise years ago. You can't get out of a deep hole by simply jumping right out. You have to slowly but surely climb your way back out with smart decisions that will not drop you further into the hole. That's the best analogy I can come up for regarding this but, it makes sense doesn't it? I really do not think it is smart to sell the future for the time being. The Bruins have some promising prospects (both in Boston and in Providence) and if they make a deal without shipping a bunch out for a proven scorer, then sign me up.
