In 1982 the trio The Recedents were formed to explore the possibilities of electro-acoustic musique, with Lol Coxhill, Mike Cooper & Roger Turner who initially played drumset & EMS Synthi A as a means of bending the sounds of various metal percussion instruments. This group, still existing, mixes song, jazz, punk/thrash, with acoustic detail in always shifting sonorities. The Recedents demonstrate that you can be avant-garde & have fun at the same time. This is the soundtrack for a 'yet-to-be-made' film about a conflict between zombies and a new housing tract. Each piece makes reference to this film in some way. The music ranges from the reggae-like title track, to avant rock, to rockabilly, to electrified free-form improvisations.
super dope mutant jazz that doesn't get boring. i think they throw in enough ramshackle electroniques & other interesting sounds & styles to keep it from turning into a dissonant skronk/snooze fest, which aint my thang really. the result is a highly captivating & listenable album that just grows on you. say can anyone help us find their 'barbeque strut' disque from 1987? :) 320 remerciements à le french conexión
