Kids Triathlon in Gladstone
Swim. Bike. Run! That is the theme of the 2011 Kids Triathlon that will be held at Gladstone Community Center Saturday, May 14. For the fourth consecutive year, this event will give more than 200 kids, ages 6-14, an opportunity to stay fit while telling family and friends, “I did a triathlon!”
The Triathlon begins at 9 a.m. and will be divided into three age groups. Ages 6, 7 & 8 will swim 50 yards, bike 1.5 miles and run ¼ mile. Ages 9, 10 & 11 will swim 100 yards, bike 1.5 miles and run a ½ mile. Ages 12, 13, & 14 will swim 200 yards, bike 3 miles and run a mile.
Cost is $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional sibling. Registration must be delivered by Wednesday, May 4, to the Gladstone Community Center. View a registration form online at http://www.gladstonecommunitycenter.com/.

Stories From the White House
Our White House, which has been home to U.S. presidents and their families since 1800, is not just a house: It is a HOME; a home filled with little-known tales about presidents, humorous accounts about first family children, and historical fiction offering lessons to be learned. This interactive patriotic program will show how the "house" is truly made of people, capturing the spirit of "Home Sweet Home" for our American leaders.

Build a Sidewalk Garden
Join in the joy of gardening as we plant some favorites that do very well in this area. Gardens can remedy a number of exterior problems including drainage issues, creating pleasant vistas in lieu of unattractive ones and simply offering one a spot of repose.
