The C.S.I. and Law Enforcement Show-Me Challenge was held Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at North Technical High School in Florissant, Missouri. Ten students from Northland Career Center competed against students from North Tech and Sikeston Career Centers. Students began with job interviews conducted by local law enforcement officers. Five C.S.I. teams then followed by combing a “Murder” scene including photographing, collecting and preserving evidence and writing final reports.
Outside, students interested in criminal justice conducted “car stops” and searches, pedestrian welfare checks and used their skills in fingerprinting to take and classify prints. All events were conducted and judged by law enforcement from the metropolitan St. Louis area. Northland Career Center swept the contest in Platte City last year and once again brought first place trophies home.
District students on the team taking first place in the C.S.I. challenge included Ashley Curttright of North Kansas City High School and Jessica Lynn of Staley High School. On the team taking second in the same challenge included Bianca Byrd, North Kansas City High School.
Winning the Criminal Justice Challenge was Andrew Shehan, a senior at Winnetonka High School.
Byrd, Curttright, Lynn and Shehan are seniors at their respective high schools.
