'Wilmoth Houdini was the most recorded calypsonian of his generation. His songs covered a variety of styles and topics including prostitution, murder, satire, Carnival, social equality, and male-female relationships. Historic Calypsos from 1928 - 1940.'

possibly me favourite calypsonian after growling tiger. houdini has superb flow & keeps it 100% real. the red hot orchestra who bachs him up on many of these sides are called gerald clarke's night owls. nuff said. lionel belasco is in the mix too. a few more of the finest early calypso collections live hither & thither & whither. everybody happy. a 320 rip. get some!
