"I believe that the most important single thing, beyond discipline and creativity is daring to dare." - Maya Angelou
February signifies a month long celebration of Black History. While I am happy an entire month is a dedication to the achievements of African Americans, I personally do not believe in just celebrating for one month.
A few days ago, Maya Angelou posted a quote on her Facebook page. One of her readers commented that they wished Black History month weren’t so short. My reply—condensed— was we are a race of people ever moving forward and therefore we are living history.
So today, on the last day of Black History month, I am featuring some of the images from photographer Tarrice Love (below) and his pick for the next Supermodel, Rob Evans. I would say that Tarrice's assessment is dead on. Rob has exploded on the scene and is walking the runway, appearing in editorial and fashion ad campaigns and now branding commercials.
Photographers are clamoring to get a piece of Evans and I can see why!
I stumbled upon Love’s site quite by accident. I was searching for African American male models to use for Man Candy Monday. My search yielded deplorable sites that led me to nocuous images.Photographers are clamoring to get a piece of Evans and I can see why!
Deeply disturbed by the lack of reputable images on the web, finding Tarrice’s site was like finding a veritable treasure trove. His positive images of African American models, in particularly male models buoyed my spirits. Ask any of his models that has received the 'Love' effect in their portfolio. They sing his praises.
His pictures are poignant and to the point. Tasteful, stylish, and raw, so much that the face doesn’t drive the picture but the visionary behind it does.
If writers can influence the world with their words then photographers speak volumes with their images.
You can visit Tarrice Love’s website http://www.ice-itsocool.com/ and view all the models he has photographed, including last Monday’s man candy, Alex Geerman.
