This particular track, however, had already been released as the b-side of the “Both Sides Of The Story” CD/cassette single WEA 4509-94090-2/WE C 795 (1993) (see pictures below). 4) These are the differences between the DVD version of track 24 (“Always”) and the “Love Songs” and “Both Sides” b-side version: a) At 2:32 on the CD: “and not for just a day” is “no no not for just a day”. b) At 2:57 on the CD: the mix brings up the rimshots. c) At 3:26 on the CD: the vocal phrasing on “for just a day” is different. d) At 3:58 on the CD: Daryl Stuermer’s guitar licks appear to be in a more staccato feel. e) At 4:10 on the CD: Lee’s ascending glissato on bass, right over the “you” coda of the vocals, has been mixed out. f) The whole of the track vocals appear to have been equalized in post production. Please note that as far as the differences in mixing go, these might be due to the surround remix of the DVD. 5) According to web sources, this anthology was issued in the US on Rhino 78058 (2004).

Notes: 1) This is a US-only CD issue of the single “Everyday”, taken from the Phil Collins album “Both Sides”. This issue differs from its European counterpart (see entry above) in that the fourth track “Doesn’t Anybody Stay Together Anymore (live)” has been replaced by two other live tracks recorded during the 1990 Serious Tour and similarly NOT included in the double live album (see the “Serious Hits… Live!” entry in the ‘albums’ section above): “Hang In Long Enough (live)” and “Hand In Hand (live)”. Contrary to the EU single, though, both of these two live tracks have already been released (same version) in the “Serious Hits... Live! Differences are as follows (please note that none of these two tracks have a fade-out). “Tearing And Breaking” - The duration of the compilation version is 5:28 while the edit version is 3:47. In the edit, the second verse of the lyrics has been edited out. Also, the ending chorus is repeated two times instead of four with accompaniment, and two times instead of three ‘a cappella’. “True Colours (rehearsal)” - The duration of the compilation version is, again, 5:28, while the edit version is 3:13. In the edit, the second soprano sax solo by Gerald Albright has been edited out. The definition for these cuts, at the time of their first release, was ‘unavailable on LP’, as they were not included in albums nor anthologies. However, some of these songs may have since been re-released as part of compilations or alternate packaging combinations: please note that only one release instance per track has been listed, that is its first pressing. As for Lee being a musician on these tracks, producer Hugh Padgham was so kind as to reply to an enquiry of mine saying Lee probably did play on these titles, but that he cannot remember definitely for sure, as he did not keep records. In order to make the tracks in question stand out, they have been printed in boldface. Still, no asterisk has been placed and the tracks are signaled by a question mark instead.

Notes: 1) This entry is about a Brazilian DVD re-release of the video known as “No Ticket Required”, originally released in the UK in 1986 on WEA Music Video 252 411-3 (VHS) and 252 411 (laserdisc). The live concert video was filmed during the May, 29, 1985 date that PC held at the Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas, during a leg of the “No Jacket Required” World Tour. According to web sources it is possible that this DVD release be a bootleg, of inferior image quality than its laserdisc counterpart. My copy shows indeed a rather muddy NTSC image, but I have not seen the PAL laserdisc so I cannot make any first-hand comparison. 2) Track 16 (“Droned”) is a cut from the PC album “Face Value” mixed over the closing video credits. 3) The following credits were integrated with those taken from an image of the UK VHS release case. 4) My apologies for the low quality of the above picture, which was taken from the web and enhanced. 5) PAL VHS tape running time was 89:16.

Actual DVD video content shows indeed the “Seriously Live In Berlin” title superimposed on intial scene. “If all has gone according to plan, you have in your hand more than just a memento of my last full tour. You will have a broad overview of a lot of what I’ve done in the last 25 years. There’ll be huge gaps of course…Genesis, there’s 30 years of work there alone. Brand X…the Princes Trust events… Hugely enjoyable times with Eric Clapton as his drummer…my big band tours with Quincy Jones and Tony Bennett, and the album that followed. …The acting…the numerous gigs, sessions and albums with some of my heroes… Lots more that I’m probably forgetting… So yes, there are some quite large holes that only a 5 or 6 DVD set could fill…maybe one day…
Anyway, just focusing on the solo work, as well as the full concert, you have access to many of the clips for the various singles…some hits, some not. Some seen, some not. Access to a few moments of relevance like “Live Aid” when I hopped continents, or “The Secret Policemans Other Ball” where I played “In The Air” on the piano for the very first time, quite terrified. Little moments that give alternate views of the same song.
There’s an interesting “period piece” that CBS screened in the USA to a mystified public during my “golden years” in the late 80’s, featuring a bizarre mix of people like Bruce Willis, John Travolta, John Candy, Dr. Dre, Henry Mancini, Gilbert Gottfried, The Ultimate Warrior and many many others… All this has been wrapped up to give a pocket guide to my efforts thus far, so dig in and enjoy…”.

“A concert on aid of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Centre and The BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology. // The planning for this concert started in September 1988 our target being £3 million necessary to build a much needed new centre for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy. So what I hear you ask is music therapy? In short it is a way of communicating with, developing and enhancing the lives of mentally, phisically and handicapped children, through music. Having settled on the idea of a fund-raising concert the next step was to approach artists who could attract the size of audience needed to raise this enormous sum of money. The perfect answer was on our doorstep. For the last 15 years Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy has presented the Silver Clef Award to artists for their outstanding services to the British music industry. So we asked them all! // The date of the concert had been set for June 30th 1990 and all the Silver Clef Award winners that were available on that date agreed to perform, willingly giving their services to support music therapy. The concert sold out instantly and it became evident that our target would be exceeded. To gratefully acknowledge the support that Nordoff-Robbins has received from the music industry it was agreed that the proceeds would be shared with a new venture - The BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology - currently being established by the British Phonographic Industry. // And so to the day itself - as host for the concert, I represented Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Onstage, I was overwhelmed by the size, the appreciation and the sheer good humour of the huge audience.
