My New Haircut and a Sleepy Face!

Uggghhhhhhhhhhhhh, what a day I've had! It's been absolutely mad at work today and consequently, I'm exhausted. Thankfully, our office is closed from 3pm on Friday and I am booking myself in for some serious pampering to compensate and destress - yippee! Oh, and possibly do some long overdue Christmas shopping. Maybe...

So, I went to see the fantastic Adam at Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden and told him that I was thinking about a change. As happens when any hairdresser hears those magic words, his eyes lit up and he went for the jugular: 'what about a jaw length bob?' Hmm, I wasn't quite prepared for that much of a change, but he carried on with the persuasive talk and I started to wonder if I could abandon my plans to grow my hair long. Then, he started to scrape my hair off my face into a high ponytail and I asked the killer question: 'do you want to cut it all off?' 'That would be GREAT!' he replied. Eeeek! My compromise, however, was a promise to bob it next time, and in the interim, have a little fringe/bangs cut in, and here it is!

Look at that sleepy little face: go to bed, Rachel!

And here it is with the fringe swept to the side, for days when I'm feeling less 'edgy' (which, to be fair, is probably most days!)

Given that I've not coloured my hair for months and months and have been trying to grow it, it feels so great to have a little bit of change. I'm also really looking forward to the prospect of having it a lot shorter next time, and feel so pleased to have found such a fabulous hairdresser who I trust to always make my hair look its best. Who knows, maybe one day I'll go for that crop, but only after finishing the bottle of vodka he promised me!

New Hair, New Products!

Last night I had my hair tidied up by Adam at Trevor Sorbie in Covent Garden. It's the first time I've been to the London salon, as I normally head back to their Manchester outpost when I'm visiting my parents. With this swishy new do, I think I'll be staying in London for future cuts! Adam explained that he is a third generation hairdresser (following both his father and grandfather before him) and his technique is so thorough and precise, it's almost hypnotic! The style is amazing and the dryness that had been creeping in has all gone. Ladies and Gentleman, I have a new favourite hairdresser.

So onto my purchase: Shu Uemura Art of Hair Nourishing Protective Oil. I have lusted after this for months but already had far too many products to justify its purchase. Since then, my haircare routine has been edited down to a select few items and I am so excited to see if regular use of this oil will help my hair on it's way to a glossy future!

It cost £32.50 for 150ml, but you only use one pump at a time, so I was advised that this bottle will last a long time. I will of course be enjoying my lovely salon blow dry for a little longer, but I will report back as soon as I use this.

I'll also be writing a more general hair health post soon, as I am astonished that I somehow managed to go 8 weeks before thinking I needed to have my hair trimmed. Ordinarily, I would be cursing my split ends at week 5, so I really think that my haircare routine is having an effect. Pureology countdown and commandments update!

I am really going crazy on the blogging today (I'm currently waiting for someone to get back to me on a report I've written so downtime is focused on blogging - woo!)

Tonight will see me breaking open the Pureology Essential Repair range, and I am so excited. My boyfriend and I are heading to the gym after work so I am holding off until we get back, although the wait is killing me! I will update you the minute my hair is dry :)

And to show that I'm not just all talk on the hair commandments, I have booked in for a split end-ectomy with the lovely Mai at Trevor Sorbie in Manchester next week. She has an amazing talent for getting rid of all the damage whilst keeping as much length as is possible, so I'm really excited to say what is, I hope, a permanent goodbye to my frazzled ends. I get my hair cut every six weeks without fail, but the damage always seem to reappear. I'll post some photos of my hair soon so we can chart progress!
