Man Candy Monday - Brooks Johnson Interview

This Man Candy Monday is very special, as I have the pleasure of interviewing the gorgeous cover model Brooks Johnson. I was super excited when Brooks said yes to my very first interview. Thanks to Brooks, I am no longer an interview virgin! I can hardly wait!

The native Missourian came highly recommended to me by author, Teresa Morgan. Please come and enjoy reading all about this down to earth, handsome man that has graced my blog today.

How did you get started into modeling?
I was doing an Internship for a car leasing company one summer during college when I waited on a gentleman who was a photographer and inquired if I was a model and I said, "Not yet, can you help?" That led to my first test shoot!

How long have you been modeling?
Let's see, that was summer of 2000...yes, it was!

What’s it like to be a cover model?
Well, it’s quite a bit different for me now that I'm somewhat older, more mature and wiser... I was never really into the glitz, glamor, or fame of it...just as something to experiment with, travel with a bit, and a means to find out more about life than just the inside of the box I had known all my life up until that point.

Do people recognize you on the street?
Once, I had a bank teller come up to me in the lobby of her bank and ask me if I had been on VH1's talent search for Billy Cross' ‘Thunder Down Under in the USA’ and I couldn't deny it, I was and had been!

Several people from the gym who already knew me saw me on the Anna Nicole Smith Show that I was on and appeared on with her.

How did you become a model for Hot Damn Designs?
Through my modeling agency here in my hometown

How long have you been modeling with Hot Damn Designs?
Since October of last year, "Damn", seems like a long time ago now!

What are some of the challenges you experience while on a photo shoot?
Feeling my best when I feel awkward!

Brooks, there are actors and models that will not pose in the nude, what are your thoughts about exposing yourself in an intimate way?
My views on or off have changed along with me over the years as well. I use to be more naive, gullible, and overly trusting of strangers -and some of them being truly "strange" to me - but against my better judgment (which I didn't have as much of back then), I thought they would have my best interest in mind when now, I'm willing to bet it was done for other reasons.

I adhere to my values, morals, standards, ethics, and beliefs that I have developed for myself now.

Have you done any acting? <---- video here!
"Verra" little! I say that because that was a specific word I had to speak as part of a line in a video clip I once did for a book trailer, of which I've done two. That's pretty much about it.

What is the most challenging part of your career?
Definitely being around people that are different from me based on the new values and principles I live my life by for myself.

Where do you see yourself in the next five to ten years?
Working alongside my cousin in Denver, CO developing, growing, expanding, and operating his Spa into a Bed & Breakfast.

What are your passions in life?
Health & Fitness, Animals, and my Native American Culture.

What keeps you motivated?
My connection to my own heart. The spirit of all of life and how that energy corresponds and flows back and forth.

Are there any charities or organizations that you support or are personally involved in the day-to-day operation?
I'm involved with a few close, local Native American Groups and Communities here in my area that meet and have gatherings several times a month. I am also part of a Men's Support Group Organization that is worldwide but has a chapter here that meets and gets together about three times a month.

This particular organization gave me my first "weekend to remember" experience 4 years ago that fundamentally helped me in the area of personal development, growth and healing.

Tell me about your love for animals, in particularly about your dogs.
WOW! That could be a whole chapter, because that's a big chapter of my life. My oldest, Porkchop, has been a part of my life since Day one. I watched as he was birthed into this world in the laundry room of the house I was living in during my college days. I would not be the person I am today either without him.

He has been termed many names, one of which is "My Traveling Dog". Others are "Chop Stix" and "Black Wolf". Rest In Peace to his sister Puppet that I had for 6 years, but almost 2 years later after that, then 2 more puppies, both siblings and litter mates, came running out of a barn on a farm one day where I was for my birthday that year and that was it....new companions for Porkchop!

And boy he has been a valuable Alpha-Male in helping to raise those two cute little critters:  Socks and Panther.

When you have experienced adversity, what do you do to turn it around in a positive way?
Heat is very healing. Whether it be working out at the gym, outside doing yard stuff and yard work, or going to the sauna and "melting it away". I turn to a proactive approach to eliminating negativity, toxins, & worries. I also do quite a bit of yoga, meditation, which is a form of prayer work for me, and reading spiritually based books.

Hot Damn Designs 2011 ‘Breakfast in Bed’ raffle is coming up very soon, are you excited?
Excited?  Hot Damn, I'm getting prepared!!!!

Can you tell us about Hot Damn Designs Breakfast in Bed contest?
It's a free-for-all-draw to win a chance to have me personally visit you in your room, while in your bed, for an early morning "wake up and shine" greeting!!

Will you be cooking or just delivering the food?
As far as I'm aware, personally delivering the food...your own personal "room service bedside" so-to-speak!

My sources say that you love hot wax, why don’t you tell us about it? *This question is non-negotiable*  wink-wink

Non-negotiable!?!?!?! What the heck? Well let me insert my own correction, your source(s) are incorrect!!!! I know I said earlier heat is healing but not in the form of hot wax!!! I was a hot wax virgin and tried it once because I have the theory "don't knock it 'till you try it"...Just so happens I was already having a really hard, bad day that day so I said, "what the heck".

Looking for a little temporary relief from "normal pain" that carried over to days and I think even the following week! Damn I didn't realize I had that sensitive of skin (and not even where you might be thinking!)

For the record, I prefer to shave next time.  Check your "sources", because I think the person assisting that process was loving it more than I was! Oh you have no idea...

Brooks,just drop that a little lower...please?

Fun questions all women want to know:

Favorite color?
Burgundy

Artist currently playing on your iPod?
Can't decide:  Creed or O.A.R. (Of A Revolution).

T-shirt and jeans or black shirt and leather pants?
BOTH sound fitting...IF the jeans aren’t too tight & the leather pants aren't too baggy!

Beach or Mountain?  Mountain...usually less crowded

Romantic candlelight dinner or carriage ride through New York?
I'm an outdoorsy kinda guy...Outdoor carriage ride, arm-in-arm. Plus we can always feed each other tasty treats while we carriage around together! me, swooning here!

Kissing or holding hands?
Oooh, depends on the environment. Both serve their purpose...hands while driving but kissing while sitting on a hill in a park. still swooning...

Favorite time of day?
Surprisingly sunrise, but if I miss sunrise, then high noon of the noon-day-sun!!

Ice cream or cake?
Depends on flavor choices of course! I like to experiment with different flavor ice creams (not a "plain vanilla" kind of guy here), but whipped-cream icings on cakes always get me though too!
Am I the only one thinking naughty thoughts about whipped cream?

Do you like to cook or eat out?
I enjoy assisting to cook whenever I can...both are more fun when it can be a shared experience!

If you had a superpower, what would it be?
To understand the deepest desires of people's hearts.

Are you single?
Currently yes. Looking, and have been for a while... How is this even possible?

When first meeting a woman, what attracts you most?
Physically, it can be any number of things...but hair is a biggie. Past that and looking deeper than that, it’s her level of personal development and deep level of understanding.
Brooks w/ his dogs Panther and Porkchop

What are some of the things you look for in a woman?
Where do I begin...I guess, first if she is "Real" and not a fake, a flake, or flighty.

Turn-ons? Openness, acceptance

Turnoffs? Liars/lying, cheating,deceiving,manipulation.

What do you like to see on women? Tight jeans, short skirt?
Tight jeans...that way I know she needs some help getting them off. How fun is it to undress yourself when it's difficult to? pant-pant

Ever said or did something you regretted?
Of course. Yes and yes. What would this life be if we didn't have the choice of free will? There can be pain and pleasure in everything. The only mistake is not learning the lesson though.

If you could visit one place in the world, where would it be and why?
I would have to go with the New Zealand/Australia part of the world because truly, I'm clueless about it yet drawn to its environment and culture there that I know has to be based on its environment.

On your down time, what do you like to do for fun?
Take a sunbath, as nude as I can get! Holy HELL...time for a cold shower!

Who inspires you?
The Dalai Lama. Because of his magnificence and deep compassion for all humanity and all of life.

Who do you consider real life superheroes?
The original people and warriors that fought to preserve the ways of old, their heritage, their traditions, from outsiders and outside influence and intrusion, from persecution so that their ways would be retained, preserved, and hopefully remembered out of the deep courage and love for their forefathers.

Brooks was kind enough to share this video. The powerful images deeply moved me. Please enjoy, I know I did!
