Singer, guitarist & occasional trumpeter Pierre Louiss was born on the French Carribean Island of Martinique in 1908, in the small municipality of Trinity. Very early on, he developed a passion for musique, taught himself to play guitar & piano & began to join local musicians at dances and weddings. His father, also an amateur musician & accordionist, died when the boy was only twelve. After this tragic turn, his mama & her kids bounced outta Martinique to live in Paris. He continued to refine his guitar playing at every opportunity & enlivened dance parties playing with his musician friends. The repertoire presented here includes Carribbean folk and popular material, plenty of jazz & of course the blues. There is strong rythm & blues influence on several traques as well. Pierre died in 1986 though his son Eddy, a fine organ player himself, continues his legacy. merci à solipse. 320k rip. r.i.p. Pierre Louiss 1908-1986.
