Girl Scouts Complete Junior-level Bronze Award
Eleven district 5th grade girls from Girl Scout Troop 1866 recently completed their Girl Scout Junior-level Bronze Award. They collected 1,189 books from the community to benefit Operation School Bell, YMCA Head Start and Children's Mercy Reach Out and Read Program.

The girls attend six elementary schools in North Kansas City Schools, which include Fox Hill, Clardy, Northview, Nashua, Bell Prairie and Linden West.

Enroll in Girl Scout Day Camp This Summer
Girls who attend North Kansas City Schools have several opportunities for Girl Scout Day Camps this summer. While anyone may attend any camp, girls from northern schools typically would attend the “Shark Bait Hoo Aha Day Camp”. Girls from eastern schools typically attend the “Olympics 2010 Day Camp”, and girls from western schools typically attend “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Sash Day Camp”.
SU 607 will host The Sisterhood of the Traveling Sash Day Camp on July 27-30 at the Wilderness Retreat Center in Lawson. Bus service is available. Registration is March 25, from 6-8 p.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1701 NE 96th St. Registrations will be accepted until April 23. This camp covers the following schools: Antioch Middle, Briarcliff, Chapel Hill, Davidson, Lakewood, Meadowbrook, Northgate Middle, North Kansas City High, and Oakwood Manor.
SU 604 will host Shark Bait Hoo Aha Day Camp on July 28-Aug. 1 at Camp Prairie Schooner in Lee's Summit. Bus service is available. Registration is May 13, from 6-7 p.m. at Robin Hill Apartments Clubhouse, 711 NE 85th Terrace (east of the KMart at Barry Road & N. Oak Trafficway). SU 608 will host The Olympics Day Camp on August 4-6 at Ernest Shepherd in Liberty. No bus service is available for this camp. Registration is May 28, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at McMurry United Methodist Church. For more information contact Lorraine Mullinax (816) 935-8219. This camp covers the following schools: Chouteau, Crestview, Gracemor, Maplewood, Ravenwood, Topping, and Winnwood.
