Summer Reading Programs from Mid-Continent Public Library

Make a Splash: READ!
Children birth through 5th grade
  • All participants (readers and listeners) set their own reading goal and, by reading, will earn incentives. Research shows that children who read six books during the summer months maintain their reading skills. Children who read more improve their reading skills.
  • Children will earn a certificate and a paperback book. Up to three paperbacks may be earned at 33%, 66% and 100% of the reading goal. Upon reaching 100% of the reading goal, a special incentive may be selected instead of a third book. Additional reading and/or listening is encouraged.
  • Only Mid-Continent Public Library books checked out after May 1 are eligible.
  • To receive reading incentives visit any Mid-Continent Public Library branch [except Midwest Genealogy Center]. Library staff can access the participant’s online reading list or will accept a completed paper list.
  • Children are encouraged to read independently on their ability level.

The program begins May 24 and ends July 31, 2010.

Make Waves at Your Library
