2010 Annual People Wise Charity Golf Classic benefitting Miles of Smiles
Help Miles of Smiles continue to provide outstanding oral health care for children in need in Clay and Platte Counties by participating in the People Wise Charity Golf Classic May 7. Registration begins at 11 a.m. followed by a shot gun start at noon. Sign up to participate by May 3 and pay $100 per golfer. After May 3, cost is $125 per golfer. The fee includes green fees, golf cart, box lunch, beverages, goodie bags, post-tournament reception, and chances to win prizes. Sponsorship opportunities also are available. Anime Movie Night at the Library

Naruto and Squad Seven are assigned the mission of protecting a popular actress, Yukie Fujikaze. They head towards the filming location in Yukinokuni (Land of Snow), where three snow ninjas wearing the karakuri-shikake-no-yori await! Why are they after Yukie? And will Naruto and his team be able to protect her and escape? Yukinokuni is controlled by the Kazebana Doto, who took power after leading a rebellion. Yukie, who survived the upheaval, is the true heir to the land. She is the Koyukihime Princess. She is captured and taken away by Doto, along with the six-sided crystal, the key to the treasures, but not without Naruto in pursuit. Join us as we watch this exciting anime film, Naruto, Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow. Snacks are provided. Registration is required. Tomorrow Code by Brian Falkner

The Tomorrow Code is fast-paced and exciting science fiction. The prologue is set in Alaska when a Bioterrorism Response Force raids a science unit, but the scientists have disappeared, leaving only clothing. Teens Rebecca, Tane and older brother, Fatboy, seem to receive a message from the future which they download and decode from a NASA satellite. They interpret an apparent SOS from themselves in the future and the Superbowl (lottery) numbers, which enable them to buy a mini submarine. They meet a scientist studying rhinoviruses on an island and are caught up in the sinister mist that is enveloping New Zealand. A solid thriller in which immunology, ecological depredation, and Maori culture all play significant roles. Copies of the novel are available at the library. Snacks provided for the discussion. Gladstone Arts Commission seeks artists
Gladstone Arts Commission is seeking artists interested in displaying their work as part of the rotating art collection featured in the Gladstone Community Center Public Art Space. Artists chosen by the Selection Committee will display their works for a period of up to eight weeks during the time period of September 2010 through August 2011.

Interested artists should submit an application and five digital images of representative work. Only art that is able to hang can be accepted. Digital files should be submitted on a CD and must be labeled with name, address and telephone number, the title, medium, dimensions, date and with the top of the work identified. Each image must be submitted in JPEG or TIF format. Each image must be at least 300 dpi and readable by Adobe Photoshop. A completed application must accompany each submission. The application is available at http://www.gladstone.mo.us/
