Freezing Rain, Snow or Ice in the Forecast? Be Prepared with These Inclement Weather Reminders

Our school closing policy has one aim — to ensure the safety of your child. School may start late; students may be released early; or classes may be canceled entirely due to inclement weather. Please be familiar with the following information sources in the event of school cancellations or early release.

North Kansas City Schools provides several ways for you to get the latest information on district school closings for days when weather looks hazardous:

• The District Web site at http://www.nkcsd.k12.mo.us/ posts school closings and activities cancellations within minutes of a decision.


• Web Messenger is an urgent notification system that sends a voice message when classes are canceled or students are released early.


• The District Information Line at (816) 413-6000 extension 8000 provides a recorded message regarding school closings.
  

Additionally, cancellation information will be posted on Facebook and Twitter. Local radio and television stations also provide school closing announcements.
