Mid-Continent Library’s Antioch Branch Announces December Programs for Teens
Teen Book Club
The teen book discussion group meets the first Monday of each month. The next meeting is January 4, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. During December, the group will read Into the Wild by Sarah Beth Durst. Something strange is trying to grow under 12-year-old Julie's bed. Her mother, Rapunzel, wants to keep it hidden, but The Wild is determined to escape. When it does, it turns Julie's town into a fairy tale on steroids. Julie has to do some sleuthing, some quick thinking, and learn to negotiate her way past expected, stereotypical folkloric responses in order to break The Wild's hold on reality. Snacks provided for the discussion. Please call the library at 454-1306 to register.
Anime Night
Anime Night is the second Monday of each month at the Antioch Branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library. The next meeting is Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The group will watch the anime series Spiral. As Ayumu and Hiyono continue to investigate the murder of Mr. Imazato, an impending danger lurks. Hiyono becomes the target of the Blade Children's latest ploy. The Blade Children will stop at nothing to complete their destiny. And only Ayumu stands in their way. Snacks are provided. Please call the library at 454-1306 to register.
Self Defense for Teens
Teens are invited to come learn how to defend themselves from attacks. Tamara Shumate teaches self-defense tactics including hit and run escapes, and some pressure points. Learn how to be proactive instead of reactive. Call the library at 454-1306 for more information.
