Education Foundation Surprises Eight Schools with Nearly $14,000 in Grants

More than 2,200 students and staff members at eight schools will benefit from approximately $14,000 in teaching and site grants provided by the North Kansas City Schools Education Foundation for the 2010-2011 school year.

The Education Foundation’s Dr. Dan Kahler Innovative Teaching Grants Program is named for Dan Kahler, a retired principal in the district. Since its inception, the Education Foundation has awarded 135 grants totaling $145,000. Staff members and schools must submit grant applications that demonstrate creative and effective ways to meet student needs and increase their motivation to learn.
