as promised, here's Los Iniciados, the sinistral satanic sister band to Aviador Dro, who had to be like the most prolific collective of artists in 1982 Spain. that year alone they released 6.66 records on their own Dro imprint, in addition to makin several videos & perfoming like crazy. the sounds herein might be likened to the Residents having a funeral party with Only Theatre of Pain-era Christian Death, en español. don't even trip, just peep the clip. 320 sacrificial séances later

Aviador Dro [short for El Aviador Dro y sus Obreros Especializados] formed in Madrid in 1979 & might best be described as Spain's answer to Devo. They were an essential part of the Movida Madrileña movment, Madrid's version of new wave, & were involved with theater, politics & even a sinister satanic synth side project called Los Iniciados [immediately forthcoming]. In 1982 they created Dro, one of the first Spanish independent punk labels. here goes some of their best early jams, 320 glorious gloops later

The 'cobla' is a uniquely Catalan wind band comprising 11 instrumentalists, which emerged at the same time as the new 'sardana' [circular, open dance], the Sardana Llarga [long sardana] during the second half of the 19th century. This transformation of Catalan music was born out of important movements of the time - the 'modernist' movement which accompanied the change from traditional, essentially rural, society to the modern, industrial society. The second was the Catalan Renaixenca concerned with linguistic conservation and political autonomy.
Old instruments such as the 'sac de gemecs' [bagpipes] and 'tarota' [rustic oboe] disappeared and were replaced in the 'cobla' by: the 'flabiol' [short wooden flute]; the 'tambori' [small drum]; two 'tible' [woodwind, similar to clarinet]; two 'tenora' [woodwind, similar to clarinet or oboe]; 2 trumpets; 1 trombone; 2 'fiscorn' [similar to small tuba] & 1 double bass.
This release compiles arkhival historic recordings by various bands first issued on 78rpm records between 1920 & 1930. sounds like somethin i heard in my childhood, but i can't trace time. 320 remerciements à mon cher frère espilos. plus

'Finders Keepers return with another expertly sequenced compilation, this time taking a closer look at legendary Spanish imprint 'Belter' who have now been around for fifty years. Featuring rare tracks from the likes of Soledad Miranda [Vampyros Lesbos], Los Mismos and Fusioon, plus bizarre versions of tracks written by Curved Air, David Bowie, Quincy Jones, Wayne Fontana and Yamasuki, its another one of those precious releases that sounds like some kind of mixtape put together by someone with exquisite taste in killer, largely unknown music - which is more or less exactly what it is. Finders keepers excel at this sort of thing and seem to have made it their mission to bring to wider recognition record labels who have tirelessly brought the world unconventional, pioneering, quirky and little appreciated gems, united by a dislike of conformity of any kind. Belter Records, with their familiar yellow graphic bands and blue / silver or brown / yellow labels, punctuate racks of other Spanish delights in a country whose habitual record buying market was initiated and facilitated by a self-made home grown institution. This is were you'll find hip hop producers rubbing shoulders with mods and proggers, shying away from the sun, contemplating a supposedly authentic paella supper and repeatedly flipping over the endless rivers of 7" circles and squares in search of another 'Absolute Belter'. 'From the compilers of the acclaimed Andergraun Vibrations series, comes Pentecostes Vibrations, an incredible comp featuring some of the rarest and unknown Spanish Xian recordings from the '60s/'70s. While searching for rare records to be included in the Andergraun volumes, the Hundergrum diggers found some recordings that were too Xian to be included on that series, so the idea of Pentecostes Vibrations was born. It features Xian bands or groups that recorded for Christian/religious labels. Let's not forget that Spain during the '60s and '70s was under the Catholic fascist regime of Franco, so pop music was inevitably affected by religion. But you won't find any lightweight Christian singers here. Just garage, beat and psych sounds. They've rescued records from old religious libraries, flea-markets, born-again-Christian boot sales and private collections. All tracks are taken from original 45s and LPs, including some unknown private pressings and ultra-obscure 45s with only a handful of copies known among collectors.
