ACT Scores Inspire Renewed Focus on Test Preparation

The district composite ACT score has hovered around the state average for several years. For the first time in a decade or longer, the district composite score fell below the state average in 2010.

With the district’s focus on increasing our students’ college and career readiness, there is a renewed commitment to better prepare students for the national college entrance exam. The district will approach ACT prep more aggressively with the use of ACT prep sessions before each national testing date for all students taking the test.

At the same time, activities will be embedded in advanced level core classes to align with ACT standards. A cohort of teachers and counselors are currently being trained to conduct the ACT workshops, which are slated to be in place before the October national test date.
