Xerox Super Soccer 1980 Yanmar Diesel Washington Diplomats

11 September 1980
Fukuoka Stadium

That's all, folks !

A-League Finals 2010 2011 Brisbane Roar Central Coast Mariners on MiamiGunners Match Of The Week

hyundai a-league finals series 2010/11
grand final
13th march 2011:
brisbane roar v. central coast mariners

The 2011 A-League Grand Final will be the sixth A-League Grand Final taking place on 13 March 2011 at Suncorp Stadium. It will be the final match in the A-League 2010–11 season, and will be played between premiers Brisbane Roar and runners-up Central Coast Mariners.

A year ago, the Brisbane Roar soccer  club was in a miserable state.
Absolutely nothing went right for them in the 2009/10 season, which included an abundance of injuries, plus the sacking of respected coach Frank Farina for drink-driving. At the end of the season, the Roar occupied in ninth spot. Now, 12 months on, Brisbane is playing in its first A-League grand final – and is deservedly hot favourites. The Roar have dominated almost every team they have faced, slamming on a league-high 58 goals for the season. Their 27-match unbeaten run is the best by an Australian soccer for the past 60 odd years.
Central Coast had a very similar 2009/10 season to its upcoming opponents. The Mariners finished eighth at the completion of the home-and-away season – the worst result in their short history. But under the auspices of ex-Socceroos coach Graham Arnold, the boys from New South Wales have turned their luck around in 2010/11. Arnold has transformed this team from one defensive to attacking mindset in the space of one season. They now find themselves just one win away from an elusive first title.

A-League 2010 2011 Central Coast Mariners Brisbane Roar on MiamiGunners Match Of The Week

hyundai a-league finals series 2010/11

major semifinal first leg
19th february 2011:
central coast mariners v. brisbane roar

The top two teams get set to fight it out in a two-legged semi-final beginning on Saturday night. Premiers’ Plate winners Brisbane Roar tuned up for their finals campaign with a devastating 4-0 win over Gold Coast United last weekend and should be primed for this but they have take on a Central Coast Mariners outfit who have not lost in their last nine outings.
Obviously it does not compare to the Roar’s unbeaten streak of 25 but it does show that they too are tough to defeat and will be well up for their home tie of this mini-series.

Graham Arnold may get back striker Matt Simon if he is fit enough after a knee injury whilst midfielder Rostyn Griffiths returns to add some depth to the line-up. In the Roar camp, you wouldn’t have thought they could get any stronger but midfielder Massimo Murdocca and second top scorer Jean Carlos Solorzano are back in the squad which gives Ange Postecoglou plenty to work with and potentially plenty of headaches. But all is boding well for the league leaders who should be good enough to get a positive result here before moving into the Grand Final following the return leg next week.

AFC Asian Cup 2011 Japan Australia

Final
January 29, 2011
Khalifa International Stadium, Doha

Referee:R. Irmatov
Attendance:37174

Australia will take part in the Asian Cup final for the first time in their history on Saturday in Doha, as Japan look for their fourth title.
If Alberto Zaccheroni were to lead the Samurai Blue to victory it would make them the most successful team in the history of the competition (Iran and Saudi Arabia also have three Asian Cup trophies to their name).
In their way stands Asia’s top-ranked team according to FIFA, though at times during this tournament they haven’t lived up to their billing.
