Borussia Dortmund resume Bundesliga title quest versus Hamburg. Borussia Dortmund aim to inch closer to the Bundesliga crown as they visit Hamburg at the Imtech Arena today.
When the two teams met in November, Dortmund continued their fine form by beating die Rothosen at home. Both goals came in the second half with Shinji Kagawa grabbing the first with Lucas Barrios adding a second to give BVB all three points.
Dortmund are on the verge of equaling the all-time Bundesliga record of most away wins in one season. The dominance of Juergen Klopp's side can be demonstrated with the following statistics: most wins, fewest defeats, fewest goals conceded and second most goals scored.

 Le Volkparkstiidion était muet. glacé, pétrifie. Apres le premier but de Corneliusson. une superbe reprise de volée sur un centre de Tommy Holmgren. Torhjorn Nilsson venait de porter le toup de grâce, a une demi-heure de la fin. Les plus heureux des supporters du H.S.V. quittaient déjà les Lieux de la féte manquée. mais ceux qui etaient aussi venus pour voir du football se mirent ussi à bouger et l'on vit soudain dans cet immense stade devenu triste des spectateurs allemands applaudir a l'habileté, à la témérité, a l'esprit conquérant de ces modestes Suédois.   Ily avait un peu d ironie, un peu de dépit dans ces acclamations qui accablaient les idoles locales. Mais il y avait surtout de l'admiration pour ces joueurs de IT.F.K Goteborg et pour leur sympathique manière de jouer. Car c'est bien grâce a leur football ouvert et collectif que les camarades de Conny Karlsson ont pu aller jusqu au bout de leur aventure et remporter cette-coupe U.E.F.A. Qu'ils ont pu. a la surprise générale, se jouer de l'ogre H.S.V. Hambourg comme ils s'étaient joués lors des tours précédents de Valence ou de Kaiserslautern. 

Le football suédois, cela se sait, n'est pas du même calibre que celui d'Espagne ou de R.F.A. Les Fredriksson. Corneliusson ou Nilsson auraient même peut-être du mal a s'imposer dans ces pays. Mais quand des footballeurs évoluent dans un contexte offensif, laissent leur complexes aux vestiaires et s'efforcent avant tout de construire, l'équipe qu'ils forment prend alors une toute autre dimension et aucun espoir ne lui est interdit. Les premières victoires de Gotcborg. face a Valkeakesta. Sturm Graz et Dynamo Bucarest en apportent la preuve. Le grand mérite des joueurs suédois, de leur entraîneur Eriksson et de leur manager Kindwal. aura été de ne pas changer de manière quand.'avec les quarts de finale au printemps, arrivèrent les gros morceaux comme Valence, puis Kaiserslautern en demi-finale et enfin Hambourg. La confiance née des précédents succès aidant, Karlsson et ses camarades purent aller jusqu'à la victoire finale en alliant l'efficacité a la manière. Bilan général dans cette Coupe UfaA. : pas une seule délaite (fait exceptionnel !) neuf victoires et trois nuls Vingt-sept buts s et onze ennssés seulement. Et à l'arrivée, la preuve que l'audace, le peu collectif, la volonté de créer au lieu de détruire peut gommer la différence avec des joueurs de premier plan.

La formidable  aventure  de I.F.K.Goteborg va bien au-delà du simple explouit, elle est exemplaire de ce que l'intelligence peut permettre en football. Dans des compétitions actuelles où le calcul et la prudence en est la seule et triste manifestation, le triomphe des amateurs ou semi-pros suédois est une bouffée d'espoir. C'est pour cela que L'on doit dire aujourd'hui : bravo et merci Goteborg. Bravo et merci d'avoir rappelé à L'Europe que le beau football peut encore payer.

The 1982–83 season of the European Cup football club tournament was won for the first time by Hamburg in the final against Juventus. It was the first time since 1976 that the trophy did not go to a club from England.
Aston Villa were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Juventus in the quarter finals.
