American Idol Top 4 results: An early favorite says 'goodbye' to the competition

American Idol is about to proclaim its Season 10 grand winner in a few weeks. At this point in the competition we can only expect that the elimination will be harder. And yes, it was indeed for tonight's results show since an early favorite headed home and said 'goodbye' to his American Idol dream after getting the lowest number votes from the viewers.

Did I say 'his'? Yup, a male. There was an issue before that 'gender bias' exist in Idol voting and many predicted that it is going to be an all-male finale. However, after tonight's elimination round only one man remain who will be competing against the two remaining female contenders next week.

James Durbin was the one voted off tonight. While many expected James to make it to the finals and bring home the American Idol title, his time was rather cut short, leaving everyone stunned.

And then there were three. After James' elimination, the Top 3 were revealed - Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina and Haley Reinhart.

Meanwhile, before the announcement of the results the following preformances were staged:

James Durbin and Scotty McCreery, "Start a Band"

Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina, "Gunpowder and Lead"

Lady Gaga, "You and I"

Enrique Iglesias, "Dirty Dancer" and "I Like It"

Jordin Sparks, "I Am Woman"

Steven Tyler, "It Feels So Good"

'American Idol' Top 5 Results: Jacob Lusk, voted off!

American Idol 10's Top 5 results have been bared!

After surviving a couple of elimination rounds in the 'bottom 3', 23-year old Jacob Lusk has been eliminated from the competition after getting the lowest number of votes from the show's viewers.

Jacob Lusk placed fifth in AI 10.

The church singer from California got high praises from judge Randy Jackson for his performance of "God Bless the Child" in the Hollywood round. Jackson said it was "the best ever seen on Idol."

Jacob Lusk survived the Top 9 and Top 7 elimination episodes in the bottom '3'. Unfortunately, tonight it was him who was sent home.

Lusk was joined in the 'bottom 2' this week by Lauren Alaina.

American Idol now has 4 remaining contestants - Alaina, Haley Reinhart, James Durbin and Scotty McCreery. The show is now just 3 weeks away from proclaiming its singing champion for this year.

*Sorry for the typo error, earlier. Lol.

Another surprising elimination round happened in American Idol tonight as it sent home Casey Abrams who previously was 'saved' by the judges after being voted off in the early part of the competition. The judges get to use the 'save' vote only once in the entire season.

Scotty McCreery and Jacob Lust joined Casey in the 'bottom three'. Many thought Jacob was to leave the competition tonight, however, as host Ryan Seacrest announced Casey got the lowest number of votes and thus eliminated.

In tonight's episode, American Idol 9 runner-up Crystal Bowsersox performed her new song “Riding With the Radio”. Grammy winner Bruno Mars also did a performance of his single "The Lazy Song".

The 5 remaining contestants whose chances of getting the title are getting high are: Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lust, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.

American Idol bids farewell to Stefano Langone | Who's next?

"American Idol 10" viewers once again voted off another male!

Said to have been over-exposed, Stefano Langone, 22, is the second male to be eliminated from the competition since the Final 13 started performing. He is the third male to be voted off and second male to be sent home - Casey Abrams was saved by the judges in one elimination episode. For the first 4 elimination episodes, 5 girls already left the competition.

So who's going home next?

Here's Noypi's prediction of the 'bottom 3' for next week.

Haley Reinhart, Jacob Lusk and Casey Abrams.

Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk have been in the 'bottom three' for more than once. Casey Abrams, on the other hand, got the least number of votes once but was saved by the judges.

With this history, I think one of them is finally going home next week. :D

By the way, The "American Idol 10" finale will be on May 24 and 25.

American Idol Results Night 6: First male finalist eliminated | Find out who

American Idol Results Night 6: April 15 Top 8 Elimination Episode

Since the Top 13 Finalists started performing in the 10th season of the world-famous "American Idol", girl contestants seemed to find it hard to get enough support from the show's viewers, making 5 of them say 'goodbye' to the competition one-by-one each elimination episode.

For the first time, a male finalist has been sent home after a nationwide voting - although Casey Abrams was previously voted off but he dodged being eliminated after getting the judges' single 'save vote' for this season.

During the latest episode of the talent search, host Ryan Seacrest announced that it was the end of the line for the charming singer from Nashville, 25-year old Paul McDonald after garnering the lowest number of votes.

With Paul McDonald in the 'bottom three' were Stefano Langone and Haley Reinhart who might be the 'next' to go home since it is not the first time for the two to be in the 'bottom three'.

McDonald rendered "Maggie May" as his 'goodbye' performance in the show. This was requested by judge Jennifer Lopez who became teary-eyed.

Meanwhile, Season 1 champion Kelly Clarkson and country singer Jason Aldean sang "Don't You Wanna Stay' during last's night show. Pop singer Rihanna also showcased her new ballad "California King Bed".

The Top 7 remaining finalists will again battle it out on stage next week.

P.S. Here are the judges' comments on each contestant during the perfomance night episode:

Paul McDonald “Old Time Rock and Roll” by Bob Seger
Steven: I love your crazy wild abandon, how it translates to the audience. Jennifer: Every time you come out here, you’re going a little bit further, a little bit further, it’s great to watch. It’s like watching a diamond in the rough and every week, a little more polish. Randy: America you just witnessed the first number at the Paul McDonald concert. I love it. You are definitely an artist.

Lauren Alaina “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus
Jennifer: I loved hearing you sing this, the tear in your voice. You sang it so beautifully, you don’t need to steal anyone’s votes. You’re getting plenty of your own. Randy: The Lauren we saw in Nashville is roaring back. It sounds like it was written for you. Amazing. Steven: I love what you bring to a song, and what a song brings to you. Beautiful. You Move me beyond tears.

Stefano Langone “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men
Randy: Dude! Randy name drops friend from Boys II Men who will be TEXTING HIM ANY MINUTE to say “your man Stefano just slayed the song.” You made the right move at the right time. Best vocal to date. In it to win it! Steven: You know how to milk a song. This is so not the end of the road for you. JJennifer: You got it. It’s about being a great performer. You did it. You did it tonight.”

Scotty McCreery “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait
Steven: Scotty I just love your voice. You did it again. You’re good. Jennifer: Everybody wants us to be tough with you guys, but you guys are so damn good. I just want to say wow. Was it my fav song choice? No. But you sang it beautifully. Randy: If it ain’t broke don’t even consider fixing it. A star is born on this stage. You’ve grown so much. I ‘m a huge ginormous fan.

Casey Abrams “Nature Boy” by Nat King Cole
Jennifer: I gotta say, at the beginning I was nervous. I hope America got that. Randy: We have a real true artist on the show. We’ve never had anyone like you ever. It’s about embracing who you are. I can see you making an extended Buble kind of record. Genius. Steven: You are an artist in the truest sense of the world. You do what’s in your heart. YOu believed what was in your heart. You are so good man.

Jacob Lusk “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon & Garfunkel
Steven: It’s astounding how angelic you sing. Incredible. God bless you and your voice. Jennifer: Who does that? You are such a gifted vocalist. You pulled the chills out of me. Randy: I listen to every word. I believe you. I love that you took your time with this. It was perfect. Great job.

Haley Reinhart “Call Me” by Blondie
Randy: I didn’t love the beginning, it sounded very karaoke to me. It wasn’t a showcase for your voice for me. Steven: I agree, but when you nail chorus… you sang it heavy you sang it great. Jennifer: I love when you started, and I kind of agree with Randy, but I’m afraid to say anything negative, I don’t want to lose any of the girls!

James Durbin “Heavy Metal” by Sammy Hagar
Jennifer: That felt really really real. I loved that. They are killing it dead. That was crazy. Randy: I’m happy you stuck to your guns. Tonight you did you. Durbin rawks! Steven: Outstanding Durbin.

Thia Megia performs for the last time as a contestant on American Idol 10

It was the last time for the Filipino-American Thia Megia to perform as a contestant in American Idol 10 during the Top 11 double-elimination episode, earlier.

Together with fellow finalists Pia Toscano and Hailey Reinhart, Thia performed Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream". Immediately after the performance, Thia was announced as one of the 'bottom three' joining Naima Adebapo and Paul McDonald.

Thia Megia, in the bottom three! Was she saved? (Video)

It seemed like the good comments Thia Megia received from the judges for her 'Motown' performance were not enough to at least spare the youngest contestant to be in the 'bottom three' or the 3 finalists with the least number of votes in the world famous American Idol Season 10.

For the first time, 16 year-old Filipino American Thia Megia was among the three who got the lowest scores in the nationwide voting. She was with Casey Abrams and Stefano Langone who was given heavy comments by the Judges during the 'performance night', yesterday. On the other hand, Thia's was among the favorite performances during that night. She delivered an upbeat rendition of the classic hit "Heatwave" and received commendations from the three judges for taking a risk and coming out of her shell. And thus, it was a surprise to see her land in the 'bottom three'.

But was Thia saved?

Yes. Luckily, she was. And also Stefano making Casey perform for the judges' one-time 'save power'. And yes, the judges did use the 'power' on Casey, adding a pressure on the Top 11 finalists to impress everyone with their performances next week since 2 of them are sure to go home!

Check out the video of Thia Megia's "Heatwave" performance HERE.

Thia Megia, back in the competition! | Thia Megia's "Heatwave" Performance Video

After receiving heavy criticisms last week with a ballad performance, the youngest contestant in American Idol Season 10, 16 year-old (Yes, she just turned 16.) Filipino-American Thia Megia redeems herself with her performance of "Heatwave" by Martha and the Vandellas during the "Motown Night" episode of the talent search on March 24.

Her upbeat rendition of the classic hit made the judges commend her for taking a risk and coming out of her shell.

Judge Jennifer Lopez said, "Okay! Now I feel like we're scratching the surface a little bit with you right there. It was great to see you let loose like that. Wow! Who knew? I didn't and I wasn't sure but now that we're going there. I need you to dig even deeper each week. You know you're 16 years old and I don't expect you to have the live experience in the world to bring what you need to bring to the lyrics but part of performing is acting and you have to bring that every time, so always make sure you connect with the lyrics so you can bring even more because I just see, now I know, you got it in you."

Randy Jackson agreed on J.Lo's comment saying, "The reason you're here, cause we knew you had it in you right? And the public is definitely resounding with that because you've been here every week. This new thing is a good thing because I know this has been tough for you the last couple of weeks. But I got to say it's about taking chances. You took a chance tonight and you didn't sing a really safe ballad although I still feel you can dig deeper and you can do more with it. Take more vocal chances. You can really sing and I want you to believe and I'm happy to see you move up a notch tonight with something different, congrats on that. Take some chances, continue! push!"

Meanwhile, Steven Tyler had a very short but sweet critique.

"You've taken a step out, I love it. Just great! I'm good. I'm good with it."

As the results of the online and phone voting come out tonight, another contestant is going home. He will be let to perform and the judges will decide whether they will save the contestant him or not.

Amazing guest performances (as usual) also await viewers tonight. :D

Thia Megia bores Randy Jackson with her performance

The only Filipino-American left and the youngest contestant in American Idol Season 10 Thia Megia once again sang a ballad during the "performance night" of the remaining 12 contestants. She sang a song from her birth year, the 1995 Vanessa Williams hit "Color of the Wind".

Judge Randy Jackson said he find it boring and he felt like he was watching beauty pageant.

"There was nothing special, unique about it. You have the talent. Maybe a different kind of song next time. Dig a little deeper, take some chances cause you can sing. You have a big voice but it's only so safe and it was so boring tonight,” he said.

Thia defended herself by explaining that she chose the song because it fits to "what's going on in the world today."

Judge Jennifer Lopez also commented on Thia's vibrato saying, "I'm not sure if it's nervousness or that's the quality of your vibrato. Either way I don't wanna think about that. So I feel that needs a little bit of working on too. So push out of the box then come out next week and kill it.”

We will find out later tonight if these comments from the judges would send15-year old Thia Megia home.

What happened to Clint Jun Gamboa in American Idol 10?

I have been religiously watching the show American Idol 10, lately. I got more excited about this season since two Noypis (Thia Megia and Clint Jun Gamboa) did great on their auditions and they were both selected by the judges to be in the Top 24. Last night's episode, though, which revealed the Top 13 finalists, one of them (Clint Jun) got eliminated and was not even given a chance by the judges to perform for the 3 wildcard slots - the show's viewers voted for the 10 Finalists and the judges chose 3 wildcard contestants.

Oh well, since I think Clint Jun performed well, I think the reason he was voted off from the talent search would have to be the Hollywood Week - Group Round incident. Some viewers must have hated him after he dismissed the charming 15 year-old Jaycee Badeaux from their group during that round. (Read more HERE.)

I am sorry for him. But yeah, Thia is still there! I hope she would do better performances in the next episodes since other contestants are really great as well! She so mahinhin, so Filipina but she should be a little lively I guess since she is still so young.

:D

Thia Megia, Clint Jun Gamboa advance off to final round of Hollywood Week (American Idol 10)

The Filipino pride Thia Megia and Clint Jun Gamboa are doing well on their quest to be the next American Idol.

During the third round of the Hollywood Week of American Idol Season 10 where they have to perform solo, Thia and Clint captured the hearts of the judges once again with their impressive performances.

The 15-year old student Thia Megia performed her rendition of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World". While Clint Jun Gamboa, a 26 year-old Karaoke Bar host, showed his confidence doing his cover of the classic "Georgia on my Mind".

They both got the judges approval to be sent off to the final round of the Hollywood Week. They are now a step closer to be one of the Top 24 finalists who will perform before live audience and broadcast.

Half-Filipino Clint Jun Gamboa off to next round of American Idol 10

If you're wondering if the asian-looking guy Clint Jun Gamboa who belted out the song "Get Ready" during the group round of the Hollywood Week in American Idol Season 10, is a Filipino?

Yes he is. I read this on the comments of his old Youtube video when someone asked him his roots even before he joined the singing contest. He said he is Half-Pinoy. Check his Youtube channel HERE.

The karaoke host and his group in the second round of Hollywood Week got a little controversial when they dismissed 15 year-old Jaycee Badeaux since the latter cannot catch up with their choreography. Jacee ended up searching for a new group while fighting back in tears.

It was a good call for Clint's group since they were able to deliver one of the best performances of this round. Clint was shocked though when Steven Tyler asked his groupmates to step forward leaving him behind alone, only to find out that they all made it through to the next round.

Jennifer Lopez said, "Come'on Jun! You know you're going through!"

Clint is off to the next round which will be aired tonight. He has to capture the hearts of the judges once again with a solo performance.
