For more than 10 years, Nashua Elementary students have worked with the residents at the New Mark Care Center. Students go to the care center every couple weeks to visit with residents, and several times a year, they make special items for them as well. Cards made by the Nashua student body are distributed to the care center during the holidays, and students collect stuff animals to share with the residents in February.
During back-to-school week, Nashua was on the receiving end of donations and gifts. New Mark Care Center residents collected several large boxes of school supplies and 100 colorful backpacks. Several residents came to Nashua to deliver the items during a school assembly. Students had the opportunity to talk about what they liked about visiting the care center, and residents had the chance to tell the students what the visits mean to them.
