'Chants for the accompaniment of sacred dances or for simple listening take the form of nefes, poems of popular origin. Designed for mystical chant, nefes are made of measured syllables in simple, unfettered language in which, contrary to classical Ottoman poetry, arabic & persian elements rarely intervene. The nefes sung here are the works of the greatest alevi-bektashi ashik: Pir sultan Abdal, Sefil Ali, Sefil Ibrahim, Ashik Noksani & Edip Harabi. Feyzullah Tchinar also sings a nefes he wrote in a traditional spirit.' ~ liners

an expression of faith by the mystic bard Ashik Feyzullah Tchinar. sung poetry with powerful, yet restrained saz lute strummage. he belongs to the Alevi tribe; inhabitants of central asia prior to the conquest of Anatolia, who in the course of their migrations chose to conserve the ancestral stamp of islam & other pre-islamic influences from arcane asian shamanism. most Alevi belong to the Bektashi brotherhood of dervishes whose goal is the evolution of base human awareness into a realization of unity with the divine. 320 iyi dilekler to op the opulant
