Cambia Earns All-American; Log is First Class

Oak Park's 2010 Cambia yearbook earned an All-American rating with four Marks of Distinction from the National Scholastic Press Association's (NSPA) critique service. Marks of Distinction were awarded in the following areas, with these judge's comments: Coverage, "excellent specifics to highlight so many activities and events at your school throughout the year;" Design, "beautifully designed with a level of sophistication I seldom see;" Writing, "excellent attention to detail in order to write with vivid story-telling qualities;" and Photography, "great story-telling qualities and cropping." Current senior Derek Byrne led the 18-member staff of the 2010 Cambia during his junior year.

The 2009-10 The Northmen's Log newspaper earned a First-Class rating with one Mark of Distinction in Leadership from the NSPA's critique service. The judge said, "It is obvious from the work presented in The Northmen's Log that the leadership strives for excellence in their publication." Gina Drapela, a 2010 graduate, led the 13-member staff of the Log. Drapela is currently studying in the pre-journalism program at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
