Northtown Tennis Players Advance to Sectionals
The Varsity Boys Tennis Squad had a great performance at the Individual District Tournament.
Singles -- John Platel placed 2nd overall
Singles -- Kiet Vu placed 5th overall
Doubles -- Alija Omerovic / Greg Tluscik placed 2nd overall
Doubles -- Jacob Armstrong / Brody Carlson placed 4th overall
John Platel moved on to the Individual Sectional match for singles. Alija Omerovic and Greg Tluscik advanced to the Individual Sectional match for doubles.
North Kansas City was the only team in the area that sent two entries into the sectional round.
Oak Park Yearbook Honored in Gallery of Excellence
Last week, Walsworth Yearbooks presented the 2011 Cambia yearbook with a spot in its Gallery of Excellence.
The Gallery of Excellence is a showcase of the company's top yearbooks. According to a letter from Don Walsworth, president, "Gallery books demonstrate true mastery of a yearbook's purpose -- to provide thorough coverage of the school year with interesting stories that highlight all types of students using well-written copy, stunning photography and trendy design."
To be chosen for the Gallery, yearbook sales representatives review and nominate the content pages, theme presentations and covers of yearbooks currently under production. From there, management chooses less than 5% of their customers to be in the Gallery. Gallery books will be used as examples by sales representatives nationwide at regional, state and national competitions, workshops and in other resource materials.
The 18-member 2011 Cambia yearbook staff has been led by seniors Derek Byrne and Molly Mendenhall.
Northtown Track Update
The following Track athletes finished in the top four at Districts, qualifying to compete in the Sectional meet this Saturday at Staley High School.
