Superintendent’s Message to Parents & Community

As this historic and challenging school year comes to a close, we have many reasons to be grateful and much to celebrate. We launched the new year with the opening of Bell Prairie Elementary School to address crowding, and the new school also made a strong statement about the district’s commitment to sustainability. Bell Prairie became the first educational facility in Missouri to achieve Gold level status for leadership in energy and environmental design just one year after Staley High School opened as the first to earn Silver certification.

As the school year continued, good news about student and staff achievements affirmed the good work being done in North Kansas City Schools, including:
- 11 seniors named National Merit Scholars
- 9 sophomores named to the Missouri Scholars Academy
- 8 educators named best in the nation or state
- 3 more teachers honored with National Board Certification

These are just a few of the many honors earned, but they are a testament to the student-centered focus of teachers and support staff.
