Battle of the Granicus

The battle of the Granicus River took place in May 334 before Jezus Christ was born.It was first battle fought Alexsander the Great and the Persian Empire.In the 334 BC Alexander the Great with 20000 peltasts(light infantry),22000 heavy infantry and 5000 cavalry go in ground of the Persian Empire in the Asia Minor.King of Macedon met Persia army near the Granicus River.This army command by persian satraps of Asia Minor:Spithridates,Mithridates and Memnon of Rhodes had 9500 peltasts,5000 Greek hoplites and 10000 cavalry.Persia were pleased that position which cover Alexander the Great was difficult but Alexsander with him soldiers suddenly attacked run through the river refuse Persia army which wasn't ready on suddenly attack.The exercise which Alexander the Great give him soldiers was very hard because cavalry of Persian Empire stand on the coast Granik's river.Infantry have to went across the river in dense style what were almost impossible but impossible become possible.Infantry had 5 meters spears called in army of the Alexsander the Great sarissa which attacked cavalry and drop them fro horses.All of the Persia army started retead include Grece hoplits which gives up.On the battlefield lieghst dead 4000 soldiers and 2000 Grece hoplites were captured by Alexsander army which lost 150 soldiers.
